Susanna Alakoski was born in Vasa, Finland, grew up in the town of Ystad in the south of Sweden and now lives in Stockholm.
Her first novel The Pigsties (Svinalängorna) was awarded the prestigious August-prize 2006 for Best Novel of the Year.
