"I would like to promote a new fantasy series,/…/an exciting tale that makes you hold your breath."
    Lena Engkjaer, Kristianstadsbladet

"Åsa Ekström's illustrations/…/are a nice mixture of manga and Viking art with a touch of The Arabian Nights. The simplicity of the language, the large font and appealing layout makes this a good read-on-your-own book."
    Fia Larsson, BTJ 1 2009

"Salmson places her hero in a time when dragons were natural and culture was a blend of medieval towns and Japanese fantasymanga. It is a blend that works well and Salmson uses the different genre and story telling techniques with dragons, chivalry, manga and fantasy in very efficient way."

Dragon Knights - a new, thrilling fantasy series for those just learning to read!

This is an exciting, easy to read story about Tam the beggar boy, who is chosen to become a dragon knight; it forms part of a new series by Jo Salmson, the author of The Return of the Almanders, and is dramatically and richly illustrated in black and white by Åsa Ekström in a Manga-inspired style.

Poor, orphaned Tam dreams about the dragons that pass over the outer city wall where he lives every evening. He knows he can never get any closer than this. The dragons and the dragon knights live up by the king’s palace, inside the fifth city wall, and a beggar boy like Tam would never be allowed inside.

But the voice inside Tam’s head is saying something different. And it is time for the dragons to make known what it is that they want.

Tam The Beggar Boy is the first part of The Dragon Knights, which is part of the “More to Read" series. There will be 6 titles in all in the series.
